Hello, World — Notes From a Blank Page

  • meta
  • writing

Every blog starts the same way: an empty folder and a cursor blinking at the top of it. This one is no different, except that the folder is content/posts, and every file that lands in it becomes a page on this site automatically — no database, no admin panel, no build step you have to think about.

What this site is for

This is a starter, not a finished product. It's meant to be the smallest possible foundation for a blog that:

  • loads fast, because the pages are generated at build time
  • ranks well, because the SEO plumbing (metadata, sitemap, structured data) is already wired up
  • is easy to write for, because a post is just a markdown file with a few lines of frontmatter

How to add your own post

Duplicate this file, change the frontmatter, replace the body, and save it under a new filename in content/posts. That's the whole workflow. No plugins to configure, no dashboard to log into.

The best publishing workflow is the one that gets out of your way long enough for you to actually write.
